What to do if it rains on your event?

Ever planned an outdoor event with the thoughts of how amazing the sunny day, light breeze and clear skies will add such a beautiful backdrop and ambiance of your event? However, Mother Nature often has different plans! It doesn't matter if you micro-manage every little detail, the one thing you can't control is the weather. So, what to do if it rains the day of your event?

Have a plan B. You planned an outdoor event, but your only weather prep was crossing your fingers and praying to the rain gods—now it’s supposed to pour all day. If you plan an event that doesn’t have enough interior space to host all elements of the event, you must have a backup plan and enough tenting to cover everybody if a three-minute torrential downpour happens. Even though it’s short and sweet, soaking wet dinner tables and guests make for a miserable event. Your planner will get in touch with the venue coordinator. Do they have another protected space on-site where you could relocate? they help transform the indoor space.

Embrace It Get ready to roll with the punches and welcome the weather. If the rain brings wind and chilly temperatures too, your planner can arrange for heat lamps, offer blankets and make sure there’s plenty of hot coffee, tea, cider and cocoa. Provide enough umbrellas and plan boots for your guests. Take this time to Plan a playful rainy photo session with your guests holding cute umbrellas and wearing colorful rain boots.

You’re Allowed to Be Upset (for a Little Bit) If the forecast makes you flustered, upset and anxious, you’re allowed to let your frustration out (we know, it sucks), but don’t let it weigh you down for the whole celebration. Your guests can sense all your tense and negative energy, so the sooner you can get past it and be your own source of sunshine, the more fun both you and your guests will have. If the host are having a good time, regardless of the weather, your family and friends will keep smiling too —we promise.
